Estate planning
Alegacythatreachesbeyondyourlifetime.
Bring your spiritual beliefs and the story of your life to estate planning. We explore your wishes for your care, your property, and the people you love. Your get-to-know-you session can begin with an optional astrology reading to reflect on purpose, relationships, and what you want to carry forward. Readings are for personal reflection; your choices guide the legal plan. Basic estate plans for one person start at $1,111 and include a will, financial power of attorney, health-care directive, health-care power of attorney, a planning meeting, attorney preparation and review, one round of revisions before signing, and signing guidance. We confirm the services and signing arrangements in writing. Living trusts, advanced asset protection or tax planning, property transfers, probate, trust administration, and later updates require a separate quote. A Nevada asset protection trust may be the right path; we assess that with you under the laws that apply. We work with people across the country when the matter and applicable law permit. We also help with estate or trust administration. Shook Law PC is the law firm you retain. Attorney responsible for this page: Nicholas Shook.

Start with the right questions
Nevada law permits certain irrevocable spendthrift trusts that may benefit the person who creates them. Whether one fits depends on your residence, assets, obligations, tax position, and the laws of other relevant states. We set the scope in writing. No trust guarantees protection from every creditor claim.
Your position
We review your goals, existing obligations, and the assets you would consider transferring. A trust is not a way to erase a claim or avoid a duty you already owe.
Nevada requirements
If the person creating the trust is also a beneficiary, Nevada law requires a qualified Nevada trustee and administration in Nevada. We plan for those requirements from the start.
Across state lines
Your home state's law may matter. We assess where we may act, explain any limits on our role, and coordinate with local counsel or tax advisers when needed.
Your plan
Make your wishes clear
We listen to what matters to you, then shape an estate plan around it. A licensed attorney prepares and reviews your plan. We agree on the services and fees in writing, including any Nevada asset protection planning and updates. Administration and trustee service require separate terms.
Your property
Decide who receives what, and discuss whether a will or living trust fits your plans.
Your finances and care
Name the people who can act for you and record your wishes for medical care.
Your changes
Return as your life changes to discuss updates to your plan.
Trust administration
Help carrying out the plan
We can discuss estate or trust administration after death. We also guide trustees during incapacity or while a trust continues. The governing documents, property, applicable law, and our role shape each engagement.
Authority and next steps
Review the trust and amendments, confirm the trustee's authority, and identify applicable notices and deadlines.
Records and communication
Get legal guidance on property inventories, beneficiary communications, creditor issues, and trust accountings.
Distributions and ongoing duties
Plan distributions under the trust and coordinate with tax professionals where needed. Some trusts continue for years; others are ready to close after their duties are fulfilled.

Custom scope and fees
Contact us for an individual assessment of administration work. We identify who we represent, complete a conflict review, and agree on services, fees, and expenses in a written engagement before work begins.
Tell us where you are
Start with your role and what help you need. We explain which records to gather and how to share them after the initial review. You do not need every answer to reach out.
Know who your lawyer represents
Representing a trustee does not automatically make us the lawyer for every beneficiary or family member. Prior estate planning work and competing interests can affect whether we can accept the matter. Independent counsel may be needed.
Agree on the work
Legal guidance for a trustee and accepting a trustee appointment are separate roles. Tax return preparation, investment management, and contested court proceedings are included only if expressly agreed with the appropriate professionals.
Individual trustee services
Need someone to carry out the trust?
Nicholas Shook may accept appointment as an individual trustee in appropriate matters. Acceptance is not automatic: we first review the trust document, governing law, assets, administration, conflicts, and fees. Adding a name in Navigator does not appoint anyone as trustee.
Nevada asset-protection trusts
A self-settled Nevada asset-protection trust generally needs a qualified Nevada trustee and real Nevada administration. We can evaluate an individual co-trustee role and coordinate with the qualified Nevada trustee the trust may require.
Life-insurance trusts
Trustee powers over a life-insurance policy can affect the trust's intended estate-tax treatment. We review the insured, the person creating the trust, the proposed powers, and whether an independent trustee is appropriate.
A separate fiduciary engagement
Trustee service is fiduciary administration, not software access. Scope, compensation, and any legal representation are set out in written terms before an appointment is accepted.
Optional blockchain record
A blockchain record of one version
Available by request. Preserve evidence of a signed version you expect to keep. An earlier record stays on the chain if you change your plan and record a new version.
Signing still matters
A blockchain record does not replace required signatures, witnesses, or notarization. It does not make your plan unchangeable.
